Meet Your Instructor

Shelly Allen is the owner of For the Horse, LLC, operating as EquineFirstAidClinics.com, and a certified instructor with Equi-First Aid USA.

Her first experience learning from a professional trainer was as a participant in the John Lyons Symposium at Cal Poly Pomona in 1991 — an event that sparked her lifelong passion for understanding horses. Since then, she’s spent years as a horse owner learning the real-world side of care, often through trial, error, and a few costly lessons.

Long before pursuing certification, Shelly invested deeply in self-education. Her learning path has included the Tao of Horsemanship, HorseClass®, Parelli Online Savvy Club, Masterson Method®, Straightness Training Academy, Feather Light Academy, The Self-Study Lazaris Nerve Release Technique™, and The Trust Technique®. She also studied equine nutrition, hoof care, and anatomy to build a solid foundation in horse health and management.

In 2023, Shelly became certified through Equi-First Aid USA and began teaching equine clinics in 2024, blending her formal training with years of personal study and ownership experience. She later expanded her education by joining the Equine Emergency Training course through Empowering Equine Education with Dr. Lizzie McCready.

Shelly is known for her approachable, hands-on teaching style that makes complex topics simple and practical. Her goal is straightforward: to help horse owners feel prepared, confident, and connected with their horses from day one.

Mission

To give horse owners the knowledge and skills to confidently help their horses

in times of injury, illness, or emergency and to leave them feeling prepared,

capable, and calm when it matters most.
